Although weakness, a sore throat, and headaches are well-known symptoms of Covid, there is another symptom frequently reported by those who have the disease.

ZOE Health Study data shows that diarrhoea is a common symptom of Covid among vaccinated Britons.

The number of patients reporting this symptom increased in January 2022, and this increase may be attributable in part to the Omicron form of Covid-19, according to the available data.

According to the research group, diarrhoea can be an early indication of the virus, appearing as early as the first day of infection and worsening over the next week.

The ZOE researchers found that while the condition “typically lasts for an average of two to three days,” in adults, it can last for up to seven.

One-third of persons over the age of 35 reported experiencing diarrhoea during the Alpha wave, but just one-fifth of respondents reported having diarrhoea during the Omicron and Delta waves, respectively.

Those who fell victim in the second and third waves had already been inoculated twice or had gotten a booster shot.

The National Health Service (NHS) states that diarrhoea in adults is common, and that maintaining fluid intake is crucial.

Staying at home to rest and eat when hungry is another recommendation from the health service.
